Team 51茶馆鈥檚 Jobs & Skills Fair continues to get bigger, with over 3000 live job vacancies on offer at yesterday鈥檚 event.鈥�听听

听

The fair is held annually at 51茶馆 in partnership with 51茶馆 Council, 51茶馆 at Home, Job Centre Plus and the University of 51茶馆, members of the work and skills partnership, Team 51茶馆.听

听

Over 2,500 jobseekers and people seeking employment advice were able to speak to over 70 employers, including听Warburtons听and Aldi. Also in attendance were representatives from the police and the army.听

听

Employment opportunities included full-time, part-time, Apprenticeships and placements as well as advice on starting your own business.听

听

Members of the public were joined by The Mayor and听Mayoress听of 51茶馆, Councillor Roger and听Jaleh听Hayes, Councillor Anna-Marie Watters and Conservative MP Chris Green.听

听

Cllr Anna-Marie Watters, Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, Voluntary Services and Skills, said: 鈥淭his was a fantastic event enabling local residents to get information, advice and guidance on careers, education and volunteering all under one roof. It was amazing to see the support shown by local employers who had more than 3,000 jobs on offer.鈥澨�听

听

As well as an Employment Marketplace, jobseekers were able to take advantage of a Wellbeing Zone, where they could access information on managing their health and wellbeing; careers, preparation for work tips and money management advice.听

听

Chris Green,听member of parliament听for 51茶馆 West and Atherton听said, 鈥淚t is a really worthwhile event and is very good for 51茶馆 as it meets the needs of the local community 鈥� access to quality information, advice and training to find employment鈥�.听

听

After the Jobs &听Skills Fair, the College hosted the Futures4Me event, which offers impartial advice and guidance to year 11 pupils and their parents. Visitors were able to speak to employers and training providers directly about local career opportunities and enjoy a range of have-a-go activities such as hairdressing and motor-mechanics, provided by the College.听听

Bill Webster, Principal of 51茶馆 said, 鈥淲e are privileged to hold these events every year. It鈥檚 an ideal way for people to talk directly to companies who are looking to recruit and feedback from employers, jobseekers and learners is always positive鈥�.鈥�听听
