Engineering students triumph at GMCG Skills Competition

51²è¹Ý Engineering student Kyle Entwistle triumphed on Friday, when he won first prizeÌýin the Electronics categoryÌýof the Greater Manchester College’s Group (GMCG) Engineering Skills Competition.Ìý

Teams ofÌýstudentsÌýfromÌýtenÌýcolleges across the region battled it out at Tameside College, who hosted theÌýengineeringÌýsector of the competitionÌýthis year.Ìý

Kyle was joined by fellow 51²è¹Ý engineering students, who were allÌýsuccessful in their respective categories. Second places were awarded to Ben Hardman, Megan Holland, Afzal Muhammed, Peter Walsh, Declan Wright and Jack Wild.ÌýÌý

Peter Alstead, Head of STEM at 51²è¹Ý said, ‘We’re committed to giving our learners every opportunity to showcase and share their skills. I am delighted with the performance of our engineering students, the competition was tough but they have done the college proud’.Ìý

Kyle, who is currently completing aÌýLevel 2 Engineering Diploma said, ‘I was really excited to takeÌýpart in the competition andÌýthe whole day was great. The challenges set were quiteÌýdifficultÌýso I was really happyÌýwhen I managed to win my category’.Ìý

TheÌýGMCG Skills competition covers a range of sectors, including catering and computing, which 51²è¹Ý are also competing in.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý
