Andy Burnham, the , was 51茶馆鈥檚 guest of honour at a dazzling 鈥楥elebrating Success鈥� awards dinner.听

听

Nine learners from the College, which is part of the , were chosen to attend the evening, following outstanding achievements both inside and outside of the classroom.

听

Their guests and VIPs enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner, prepared and served in the College鈥檚 Signature restaurant by Catering & Hospitality students.

听

Andy Burnham was joined by the Mayor of 51茶馆, Councillor Hilary Fairclough, and the College鈥檚 Principal Bill Webster. Professor HH William Morris, former Resident Judge at 51茶馆 Crown Court, and Andy Roberts, 51茶馆鈥檚 Chair of Governors, also joined the celebrations.听

听

Amongst those acknowledged were Caitlin Hesketh, named Apprentice of the Year at the 51茶馆 Business Awards, after swapping law school for hairdressing. 听

听

Special Olympics gold medallist Kiera Byland was also recognised. In addition to six gold medals for cycling, business student Kiera also holds 75 Special Olympics regional swimming medals.

听

Siham Birbach was invited after securing a place at the University of 51茶馆 to study Adult Nursing, having started on a 鈥楩ind Out About鈥� community course. An astounding nine other learners from Siham鈥檚 class followed the same route, each landing a place at university.

听

Others recognised on the evening included Callum Stamp, named 鈥楤est Young Commercial Make-up Artist in the UK鈥�; Ashleigh Emmason, recognised at the Festival of Learning Awards; Kajwan Jabary, who took first place in a national barbering competition; Ben Page, 鈥楻oofing Apprentice of the Year鈥�; Emilio Boaro, an ambassador for the plastering industry; and a special recognition for Keoghs law firm who, with the College and 51茶馆 Council, supported over 100 local long-term unemployed people to access a sector-based work academy.

听

Doctor Andrew Roberts, Chair of 51茶馆 Governors, closed the evening, which was compered by Ian Savage, former editor of the 51茶馆 News.

听

Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, said: 鈥�51茶馆 is putting our region on the map, with its learners being recognised both nationally and internationally.

听

鈥淚t鈥檚 such a positive place to learn, and I am so proud of the College, and these wonderful young people. There is so much talent and potential in Greater Manchester, and it鈥檚 a joy to see it being celebrated.鈥�

Bill Webster, Principal of 51茶馆, added: 鈥淚鈥檇 like to thank Andy Burnham and the Mayor of 51茶馆, Councillor Hilary Fairclough, for joining us. We鈥檙e incredibly grateful that they were able to celebrate the achievements of our students alongside us.

鈥淚鈥檇 like to pass on my congratulations to our learners; their talents know no limits. Without them, and the hardworking tutors and staff in College who support them, evenings like this wouldn鈥檛 be possible.

鈥淪pecial thanks to our Catering & Hospitality students; the dinner they made and served was nothing short of exceptional, as was the service; they really helped to make it an evening to remember.鈥�
