51²è¹Ý gears up to host UK’s top young motor talent in WorldSkills UK Finals

51²è¹Ý will host the Motor Vehicle Finals for the prestigious WorldSkills UK National Competition in November.

Ìý

The event will take place at the College’s STEM Centre, where some of the nation’s most talented young people in motor vehicle technology will compete.

Ìý

The WorldSkills UK National Competitions celebrate technical and vocational excellence, bringing together young talent from across the UK to compete in various skill categories.

Ìý

WorldSkills UK, part of the global WorldSkills network with over 80 member countries, supports young people worldwide through competition-based training, assessment, and benchmarking. The organisation is committed to raising standards across technical disciplines, enhancing education, and ensuring participants are job-ready.

While over 40 skill areas, from 3D Digital Game Art to Welding, will be showcased across multiple venues, 51²è¹Ý is exclusively hosting the Motor Vehicle Finals, joining eight other host colleges across Greater Manchester. The finals conclude regional competitions held nationwide, where over 400 talented apprentices and students earned their place in the finals through outstanding performance in regional heats.

On Tuesday 19th November, the College will host a welcome reception for the Motor Vehicle Finals at the University of 51²è¹Ý’s National Centre for Motorsport Engineering. This reception will bring together competitors, organisers and key partners from both business and education.

The College’s Event, Hospitality & Catering students will play a pivotal role, providing food for the reception and gaining invaluable real-world experience in event management and guest service.

The Motor Vehicle Finals will then commence on Wednesday, 20th November, continuing through Thursday, 21st November, with the College welcoming nearly 20 finalists from as far afield as London and Northern Ireland.

The week will culminate in a grand celebration ceremony at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Friday, 22nd November, where winners and other medallists will be honoured for their achievements.
