51茶馆 beauty students were treated to an Airbase Make-up and Airbrushing demonstration this month, in the College鈥檚 very own beauty rooms.听

Airbase champions the use of airbrush make-up, and is a method used widely in TV, film, theatre and the catwalk.听

Dee Hargreaves, who is part of the Airbase team, explained to students that Airbase shuns the traditional methods of make-up application, and instead uses an airbrush compressor and pen to apply foundation, contouring, highlighter and blusher.听

As well as being lightweight, Airbase make-up is both water and heat resistant, which makes it ideal for use on TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, The X Factor and even the movie, Life of Pi.鈥�鈥�鈥�听

It was Dee鈥檚 first visit to the College, and she said: 鈥淭he students were really enthusiastic about Airbase, and it was great to demonstrate the benefits to such a receptive audience. I was really impressed with the beauty studios in the College听too,听it looks like a great environment to learn in鈥�.听

Iris Moran, one of the College鈥檚 Media Make-up lecturers, added: 鈥淭he students were really excited about Airbase coming into College. It鈥檚 really important that they learn different methods of make-up application, so that when they leave College, they鈥檒l have an array of different techniques to apply in the world of work.鈥� Also, airbrushing of make-up and body art is a big part of the Hair and Media Make-up鈥檚 Level 3 qualification here at the College.鈥�听

Jennifer Masters, who fought off fellow students to act as a model for Dee, said of the finished result: 鈥淚鈥檓 so impressed, the effect is flawless. Dee explained that Airbase is used at London Fashion Week, and I can see why. This is good to see from an industry point of view as well as College.鈥�听
