Food connoisseurs and VIPs sampled tasty dishes from around the world last week at a cultural cookery competition.听

听

鈥楢 Taste of 51茶馆鈥�, organised by , 51茶馆 and 51茶馆 at Home, was a vibrant celebration of cuisine and cultures from around the world, and was held to officially launch 'A Taste of 51茶馆' recipe book.听

听

Competitors were separated in to three categories: students from the College; charities and community groups; and professionals.

听

Prizes were handed out for best presentation of food, and best recipe and taste.

听

The cook-off started in the College catering kitchens, where the chefs rustled up their dishes.

听

10 judges sampled the gastronomic delights: celebrity chef Paul Heathcote MBE; food and wine writer Patrick Trodden; the RAF鈥檚 Sgt Amanda Edwards; Doctor Baroness Newlove LLD, campaigner and Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of 51茶馆; His Honour Judge William听 Morris, former Resident Judge of 51茶馆 Crown Court; Edith Conn OBE DL JP, President of Greater Manchester鈥檚 British Red Cross; Ray Hanks, Trustee at Gorton Monastery; Shauna Morton from 51茶馆 at Home; and 51茶馆鈥檚 Principal, Bill Webster.

Bill Webster, Principal of 51茶馆, said: 鈥淭he food presented reflected the rich diversity of our wonderful town. The dishes were absolutely delicious and I鈥檇 like to thank the competitors, judges and the Mayor of 51茶馆 for joining us this evening for a food extravaganza.鈥澨�
