This course has been designed to introduce you to the exciting and varied world of Travel & Tourism.

As part of the programme you will investigate different aspects of the Travel & Tourism industry including travel operations, cruise industries, tour operations, events and conferences and staycationing, as well as employability skills. The course will be delivered by experienced tutors with first hand experience from the industry.

This study programme is designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.

Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme – we’ll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector.

• The Travel & Tourism Sector
• Understanding Customer Service in Travel & Tourism
• Tourism Destinations
• Holiday planning
• Exploring Travel Agency Operations
• Hospitality Operations in Travel & Tourism

Elements of study
Your programme consists of the following elements:
• Study of your chosen vocational subject - 50% of your programme
• Employability skills, such as punctuality, attendance, communication and team work
• Work experience or an Industry Placement, giving you a taste of working life
• Tutorial and personal development, such as healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills

• A minimum of 4 GCSEs, graded 9-3, including English or Maths

You will be assessed through practical activities, presentations, observations, written reports and a formal exam.

After you have completed the programme, you could progress on to a Higher Education course at College or university, or explore the possibility of doing a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4). Check out opportunities at the University of 51²è¹Ý by visiting www.bolton.ac.uk

Following further study you could work as a:

• Travel Agent, earning up to £40,000 per year
• Tour Manager, earning up to £30,000 per year
• Hotel Receptionist, earning up to £24,000

You'll have your own Learning Development Mentor (LDM) and Work Placement Officer, helping you create both academic and career plans.

Exposure to employers is also an integral part of this programme – we'll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-word experience of your sector, either on short work experience or an extended Industry placement.
