Lesson Videos A large number of lecture capture suites which enable tutors to broadcast ‘live’ and record, demonstrations, presentations and important excerpts of lessons which are made available to learners via the college Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This technology enables all our tutors to provide up to date, relevant learning resources which our learners can access from home as well as inside college, enabling learners to prepare in advance for lessons, catch up if they missed a lesson and to progress at their own pace.
Ìý
Location-Flexible Learning 120 bookable wireless laptops, which enable our learners to work independently throughout the college campus.
Ìý
Mobile technologies, including iPods, iPads and netbooks which are used to support personalised learning. These devices are used across a wide variety of curriculum areas, in a variety of learning environments, including practical vocational workshops and salons along with theory based classrooms. These devices are regularly used by our Construction, Catering and Hair and Beauty learners as they learn specific techniques via video tutorials and by our functional skills learners as they practice their English and maths skills using a variety of educational apps.
Ìý
TV Studio A dedicated TV studio which is used by learners from across the curriculum to support their learning and assessment. The TV studio is equipped with HD cameras and chroma key (green screen) capabilities, enabling learners to film themselves in a virtual TV studio. The TV studio enables learners from our Sports department to situate themselves outside Wembley or the Olympic Stadium as they record their feedback about the 2012 Olympics. While learners from Visual and Performing Arts and Hair and Beauty use the TV studio to record and broadcast their latest showpiece.
